Knoxville, Tennesse-based deathcore outfit Whitechapel have announced their newest album, Kin, slated to be out on Metal Blade Records in October. They’ve been known to be working in the studio since last September on this effort, and have put out its first single titled “Lost Boy”.

Active since 2006, Whitechapel underwent a career resurgence of sorts with their 2019 release The Valley. Their first to feature clean vocals in large portions, it followed a somewhat muted response to the previous album, Mark of the Blade. They toured in support with Dying Fetus, and had scheduled another with As I Lay Dying in 2020 before its pandemic-related cancellation. Looking forward, Whitechapel has one show for the rest of the year, a hometown affair which can be found here.

In teasing the album, the band released the album cover through a series of images on Instagram, each of which containing a small piece of the artwork by Jilian Savage.

To me, it was like the stars aligning for us to create our almost perfect record in regard to songwriting, vocal performance, the mix and master, and the artwork,” says guitarist Alex Wade. “We like to look at our albums as chapters of our career, and that is one chapter I will never forget. I think it really solidified that we can embrace a new sound, and if we execute it properly, then the fanbase is going to support and enjoy it.”
