The enigmatic collective Sleep Token have shared a brand new single “The Love You Want”, the second offering from their sophomore record This Place Will Become Your Tomb. The track’s official music video can be viewed below.
Destined to reach audiences far beyond their current base of listeners, “The Love You Want” provides an anthemic, stirring and soulful listen, marked with aquatic synths, seductive piano progressions and emphatic vocal melodies.
Where previous single “Alkaline” shone was in its volatility, wrapped in alluring, even haunting ambience and gorgeously heavy grooves. Conversely, “The Love You Want” exudes romantic sentiment, telling a tale of unrequited affection and a readiness to devotion.
This Place Will Become Your Tomb has the monumental role of following up the critically acclaimed debut record, 2019’s Sundowning. Now gifted with two singles from the sophomore record, it is incontrovertible that the band’s songwriting has only grown further since Sundowning. Going off “Alkaline” and “The Love You Want” it certainly isn’t a misplacement of faith to expect truly mesmerising things from This Place Will Become Your Tomb.
