Silent Planet Announce ‘Iridescent’

Azusa, California progressive metalcore lovers have announced their highly anticipated fourth LP titled Iridescent. Along with the announcement, the group also shared a brand new single and music video titled “Terminal/(liminal);“. You can view the video below.

Speaking on the single’s inspiration and themes, vocalist Garrett Russell stated “”Terminal” was another song from this album that was inspired by my stay in a mental hospital. For most of my life I have been a very sober person, and this song is about my experience with mind-altering medications while being in-patient. As I took my meds, I watched the world shift around me, and even my own reflection started to shift. I was met with strange visions and imagery, some of which was congruent with ancient mythology. It was during all of this that I began to wonder if the hopelessness was buried too deep for medications to solve on their own. Maybe, I wondered, this is simply the human condition.

But above all, I hope the listener understands that our albums are meant to be understood as whole pieces, and while this song is certainly coming from my genuine experience with despair, there’s more to the Iridescent story that’s yet to be revealed. Thanks for reading.

Silent Planet‘s Iridescent features three previously released tracks. Track three, “Trilogy“, which was initially released all the way back in February 2020, and track five is “Panopticon“, which dropped just short of a month ago on August 20. “The Sound of Sleep” also features on the album, and while there is no official release of this track as of yet, those who purchased a livestream ticket for Silent Planet‘s virtual show “Terminal” were sent a live recording of the track. Little did we know back than, the live stream title would also be the title for Iridescent‘s most recent single.

Iridescent will be available on November 12th via UNFD, and you can find digital pre-orders here. Physical pre-orders will open next week, and we’ll update this article with info when available. Further, you view the album’s official artwork and track listing below.
