“Cut out the noise to let the art speak.“
Static Dress are no strangers to mystery, and earlier this week, they launched a new chapter in their ongoing ARG, teasing fans with an interactive puzzle on their website. The puzzle presented an endless room, its checkerboard floor littered with CRT TVs blaring snippets from a PlayStation 2 release night news broadcast. Each snippet was carefully chosen, featuring excited voices discussing the anticipation surrounding the console’s release. Within the room, there were two key discoveries to be made. The first, a large red button, which, when pressed, caused all the TVs to shift and play a single video. The second, more subtle clue, was a hidden note behind the stack of TVs, scrawled with the word “LONDON.” Interacting with the note triggered a PS2-style chime, signaling its discovery. As of now, the note seems to serve no other purpose than to add to the event’s growing mystery.
After watching the video triggered by the button, fans were prompted to post a templated message on X (formerly Twitter). When the ARG webpage went live, the tweet read, “find the message in the symbols.” In the following days, the message evolved, starting with “tomorrow…” and culminating with “today…”, building suspense with each update. Then, unexpectedly, the band announced a free event on social media. Titled A Live Death Display, the event is strictly phone and camera-free, with the band urging attendees to immerse themselves fully in the experience and let the art speak for itself.

Fans eager to attend could RSVP via Laylo, with the band urging early arrival, as entry is first-come, first-served and will be cut off once the undisclosed London venue reaches capacity. The location will only be revealed to those who have RSVPed 48 hours prior to the event, adding another layer of mystery. Promising to be a one-of-a-kind multimedia experience, the band has kept all other details under wraps. Speculation is running high, especially with hints pointing to new music and the continuation of the Sarah and Maeve storyline, leading many fans to anticipate the arrival of a sophomore album.
For now, that’s where the mystery ends. Static Dress are clearly preparing for something big, and if you’ve been following their lore and music, you know this is going to be monumental. If you plan to attend, be ready for the possibility that you might not get in, this free event has limited capacity. But for those who do make it, you’re in for an unforgettable evening.
It is time to cut the noise and let the art speak for itself. Static Dress’ A Live Death Display takes place on the 31st of March at an undisclosed London venue.
