Cassus – Virtue Signals (Single)

Dobbin recommends: Screamo is not especially known for its bangers, but one to two incredibly catchy moments per album are more than welcome. “Virtue Signals” is that moment for Cassus in 2026, channelling all their urgent madness into a melodic maelstrom. I already feel the need to stop listening to this lest I wear it out before the release of their upcoming album Scalis Felden in early April; it’s so addictively good.
In 2 Again – Shed Hunting (Single)

Joe recommends: Featuring members of bands such as Balmora and Kidnapped, In 2 Again return with their latest single “Shed Hunting“, that channels the 00s skate-park alternative sound blending with post-hardcore stylings of early Glassjaw. Taking sung-spoken vocals with backing screams, all sitting in a hazy-mix, it makes of a track that feels straight out of the MTV-era, with much more coming from their EP later this year.

Max recommends: Kicking off what is certain to be a colossal year for the band, scene newcomers Showing Teeth lean even further into their heavy, chaotic brand of tech-metalcore in their no-holds-barred sophomore single, “Rip“. Band leader/scream merchant Addison enlists the help of guitarist Zach Munowitz and legendary Periphery drummer Matt Halpern to create a blistering masterclass in the realm of tech-metalcore, with Josh Travis-esque riffs and phenomenal, frenetic grooves strewn all across its dense three-minute runtime. A soaring, infectious chorus helps provide some glue in amongst all the chaos, but that doesn’t stop “Rip” from being an intensely complex and deeply impressive follow-up single to one of the most exciting debuts of 2025.
xTEMPERANCEx – Demo 2026 (EP)

Dobbin recommends: Together with the likes of Supernova, Emergency Broadcast, xApothecaryx and Hour of Reprisal, xTEMPERANCEx are leading a stampede of straight edge hardcore bands out of the UK. This Valentines weekend they drop their debut, Demo 2026, competing to be the gnarliest of them all. “Dreadnought” is a classic opener for fans to grapple for the mic over, and “Bully” and “Blood Wagon” are beatdown tracks made for bludgeoning oppressors. After a throwback cover of a classic by The Warriors, “Section 28” closes with queercore fury, ensuring any spin kicks the band encourages are aimed at the rotten British establishment.
