Animals As Leaders Drop New Track After 5 Years

Instrumental prog-metal powerhouse trio Animals As Leaders have released their first track after a five-year lapse, titled “Monomyth”. Along with the release, the band also announced that they have signed a new deal with current label, Sumerian Records.

When speaking on the band’s new release, guitarist Tosin Abasi shares “”Monomyth” is part fever dream, part ritual. Its imagery represents man’s ceaseless attempts to translate transcendent ideas into movement. The conflation of struggle with meaning. Pain with significance. The ultimate failure of distrilling perceived patterns in the world into knowledge.”

Formed in 2007, Animals As Leaders began as a solo outlet for guitarist Tosin Abasi (guitar). Bandmates Javier Reyes (guitar) and Matt Garstka (drums) helped to finalize the trio. Featuring no vocalist, the band heavily focuses on storytelling throughout their music. Evoking emotion through percussive guitar grooves, intriguing interval choices, and jazz inspired riffage, Animals As Leaders display virtuosic musicianship and proficiency.

Animals As Leaders offers diverse appeal among their demographic, given bands they’ve historically toured with. Touring with bands that include Korn, Deftones, Thrice, Meshuggah, Underoath, TesseracT, and Circa Survive, and playing major festivals with the likes of Linkin Park, Avenged Sevenfold, and Slipknot, the band shows why they are powerhouses in the genre.
