UK ALTERNATIVE PLAYLIST: Best of the UKs Alternative Rock and Emo

Following on from our UK Heavy Scene playlist, we now turn our attention to some of the best Alternative acts in the UK. Including Scottish stalwarts VUKOVI and newcomers Dead Pony, along with some of 2022s stand out acts in Love Is Noise and Static Dress.

Vukovi – Hailing from the West coast of Scotland, VUKOVI released scorcher NULA last year which contained some of their strongest tracks to date in cuts like “SLO” and “I EXIST“. Now a mainstay of the UK’s festival scene, the duo will be lighting up plenty of stages in 2023.

Sleep Token – The group fronted by the mysterious Vessel are the current talk of the town in the music world. Dropping singles “Chokehold“, “The Summoning“, “Granite” and “Aqua Regia” has propelled Sleep Token to dizzying heights.

Modern Error – Twin brothers and creative foils Zak and Kel Pinchin combined to release the provocative Victim Of A Modern Age in 2022, with “Error of the World” and “Vital Sign” being the records stand out tracks. With their soaring vocals and crushing melodies, there is plenty to explore within Modern Error‘s vision.

Tigress – The Essex group offered up one of their finest records in the form of Pura Vida, the boisterous and audacious tracks such as “Starting Tomorrow” and “Choke” saw Tigress excel with their sound. With 2023 opening the door for new material, it might be time to get acquainted with the quintet.

Love Is Noise – Releasing one of 2022‘s best EPs with Euphoria, Where Were You?, last year saw Love Is Noise elevate themselves from a group to keep an eye to one of the most exciting acts in the UK. With ballads “Foryou” contrasted with stormers “Movement“, what comes next will only add further quality to what is a grand discography at this early stage for the trio.

Yonaka – The south coast stars saw themselves rocket to one of the UK’s most popular acts with debut record Don’t Wait ‘Til Tomorrow, that stole hearts with tracks such “Lose Our Heads” and “Guilty (For You Love)“. With follow up EP, Seize The Power, Yonaka injected attitude into their sound and dropped huge tracks in the form of “Get Out” and “Greedy“. With new material weeks away, there is plenty to be excited for.

Casey – The beloved Casey are back, with their melodic and mellow tunes “Great Grief” and “Atone“, with a new dreamy feel to their sound that ushers in their comeback and new era. With Where I Go When I Am Sleeping and Love Is Not Enough being emotive works of art, there will be many revisiting while they wait for Casey‘s presumed upcoming full-length.
