Five-piece Vatican have today announced their new album ,Ultra, set for release this summer. With this announcement comes new single “Reverence“, the track is accompanied by a fast-action music video which boasts a cinematic and apocalyptic vibe.
“To me, this song has just about the whole package,” says singer Mike Sugars. “Just a little bit of everything I like to hear in metalcore. I remember recording the chorus, and our producer Randy Lebouf saying, ‘I don’t understand how you thought to sing over this, but it’s just so perfect.’ The song is about people with irresponsible amounts of wealth and the damage they cause to the vast majority of regular people. We don’t need ’em.”
The unit based out of Savannah, Georgia first made a name for themselves with their 2019 full-length Sole Impulse. After signing to UNFD in 2021, Vatican released double single “Absolute Reality” and “Fractured God” to make a bold return. This was then followed on by rapid single “Decemeta“, which will feature on the upcoming record. This will be the first full length to feature frontman Mike Sugars, who replaced John Whittle in 2020.
Ultra will release on June 17th via UNFD. You can pre-orders here, and view the album artwork and tracklist below. For a full review of Ultra and everything metalcore, keep it locked on Boolin Tunes.
