After much teasing and hinting, The Callous Daoboys have announced the details of their upcoming EP, God Smiles Upon the Callous Daoboys, alongside the release of a new single, “Waco Jesus“, which can be found below. The record has been mixed by Brandan Lopez of The Swamp Sound, who has previously worked with the likes of iRis.EXE, PSYCHO-FRAME, and Moodring.
It is just shy of a year since The Callous Daoboys dropped their highly acclaimed record, Celebrity Therapist, with highlights such as “Title Track” and “What Is Delicious? Who Swarms?” putting them at the forefront of the genre. The mathcore sextet have been swift to seize the moment and keep their momentum going, including work on their next LP, which is set to release in 2024.
God Smiles Upon the Callous Daoboys will see the first feature since their 2017 EP, Animal Tetris, enlisting the help of swancore unit pulses. on closing track “Designer Shroud of Turin“. The collaboration is sure to add yet another chaotic and frenzied edge to the Atlantan group’s sound.
The EP will also come off the back of their recent “Euro tour 2023“, which has seen them perform in Hungary, Slovakia, and recently in the UK at festivals Arctangent and Radar Festival, plus two shows in Sheffield and London alongside Holy Fawn and Hidden Mothers. The Daoboys will return to the UK and Europe next year, supporting Tesseract on their headliner alongside Unprocessed.
God Smiles Upon the Callous Daoboys will release October 20th via MNRK, and can be pre-ordered here. The full tracklist, track lengths, and artwork can be viewed below. For a full review of the EP and further news on The Callous Daoboys, stick with Boolin Tunes.
