Nearly eight months on from its original release, Spiritbox have shared an acoustic rendition of their hit track “Constance”. Originally performed as a ‘Reimagined’ version with the Grammy Music Collection, the track has now been released on streaming platforms and YouTube, the latter of which you can view below.
“Constance”, which acts as the closer of their upcoming album Eternal Blue, has now reached nearly 2 million plays on Youtube and 9.5 million streams to date. It is also one of the four singles we have heard from the upcoming album alongside Holy Roller, Circle With Me and Secret Garden.
Spiritbox guitarist Mike Stringer had this to say on the making of the acoustic version: “This live version of Constance was a very ambitious project for us. Before we left to start recording Eternal Blue, I had a rough demo of an acoustic version of Constance written. While we were tracking the album, the Grammy Museum asked us if we’d want to contribute to their “Collection:Live” series with a live acoustic/stringed composition of the song. Of course this was a huge honour for us and something we couldn’t turn down, but it posed a challenge as we were recording in the middle of the desert, and I had never written a string composition before.
He continues, “After learning how to turn MIDI into notation, and some back and forth with our producer Dan Braunstein, and violinist Haruka Horii, we had a version we were confident in. This was the first time we had ever performed this song live, and the addition of the strings by Haruka Horii, Bonnie Brooksbank, and Mark Bassett really brought this whole thing to life. Putting this together was a great experience, and I hope to explore more acoustic compositions in the future with Spiritbox.”
“Constance (Acoustic)” can be found on streaming platforms here, and a limited edition 7″ butterfly picture disc can be ordered here. Further, Spiritbox’s debut album, Eternal Blue, which will feature the original version of “Constance“, is due for release on September 17th. You can pre-order the record here. For all things Spiritbox and music in general, keep it locked on Boolin Tunes.
