Sentinels Welcome New Vocalist for EP ‘In Limbo’

Sentinels with Kenny Stroh

New Jersey progressive metalcore unit Sentinels have announced the details of their upcoming EP, In Limbo, which is due for release in late October. This will be their first new release since their 2021 album, Collapse By Design. Alongside the announcement comes the release of a new single, “Glitch”, which is set to be the opener.

The band’s tenure in the scene has spanned over ten years, with their first EP Idylls having been released in 2013, and in that time they have managed to maintain and refine their signature, mathcore-infused style of progressive metalcore. Characterised by precise and technical riffs and abrupt, stop-start rhythmic switches, “Glitch” continues their string of hits.

Their return, however, also comes with the unfortunate departure of vocalist Josh Hardiman. Hardiman lent his vocals to Collapse By Design, with his ferocious style matching the complex and abrasive nature of Sentinels’ music perfectly. The band reported that he sadly made the decision to leave the band in August 2022 due to ongoing health problems regarding his voice. With this, the band welcomes its new vocalist, Kenny Stroh of DeadVectors. Stroh has been filling in for Hardiman on the band’s non-instrumental live sets, making him a logical choice for the next vocalist.

The three-track EP (alongside instrumentals) is primed to offer more of Sentinels signature sound, picking up where they left off on Collapse By Design. This EP will also hopefully serve as an intermediary between this necessary transitional period and another full-length release in the future.

In Limbo will release October 27th via SharpTone Records, and pre-orders links can be found here. The full track listing and artwork can be viewed below.
