PSYCHO-FRAME Announce Debut EP ‘REMOTE GOD SEEKER’

Making waves in the heavy core scene with one song alone is a feat not many groups can claim. Certainly, it is expected for the likes of the mathcore supergroup Better Lovers (Every Time I Die, Fit For An Autopsy, END, The Dillinger Escape Plan) which debuted today, but for the most part instant successes in the metal scene are a rare, resounding seal of quality. One need only look at the numerous skilled bands who never crack the several-thousand listener mark PSYCHO-FRAME have already achieved on the back of their first song, “24 HOURS LEFT“. The track, which dropped earlier this month and was highlighted in the site’s weekly New Music Friday column, is a short and sweet nu-deathcore rager which manages to capture the energy, brutality, and technicality of the genre without giving away too much of what PSYCHO-FRAME is.

Spawned from Moodring and Vatican, whose 2022 full-length ULTRA placed third in our ‘Top 25 Albums of the Year‘, the members are no strangers to the rock world. Yet they are still fresh-faced enough that they are hungry and coming to the table with a flurry of new ideas in the way all newcomers do. That comes through on “24 HOURS LEFT“, which channels the wanton destruction of early Whitechapel in a contemporary package tailor-made for the current nu-core wave. PSYCHO-FRAME is comprised of Moodring‘s Hunter Young on guitar and production detail; the dual vocalists of Vatican, Jonathan Whittle and Mike Sugars; drummer Dave Mustrange of long.way.down; Moodring guitarist Jordan Crain; and bassist Jonathan Mackey, also from Vatican.

Today, the American outfit have unveiled the details of their debut EP, REMOTE GOD SEEKER, including the unveiling of its gnarly artwork. At six tracks, with the second single, “DRAGGING NAZARENE” set to drop later this month, the record is sure to satisfy fans of DARKO US and Tracheotomy. The quick turnaround of such a high-octane project hopefully indicates that even more music is just around the corner; if “24 HOURS LEFT” is any indicator, we’ll be desperate for it.

REMOTE GOD SEEKER is set for independent release May 5th, with vinyl from Wax Vessel set to go up for pre-order April 24th. You can view the artwork and tracklist below, find our review of the EP, and check out our interview with Mike Sugars.
