Joe recommends: Formed out of the ashes of New Jersey unit Doses, crooked channel the spirit of 00s metalcore “On Dismantle the Nerve“, a sound that many of us would have found while scouring MySpace and watching YouTube compilations of our favourite video games. With a chorus that sinks itself into the ear, what comes next is highly anticipated.
Friendship Commanders – FOUND (Single)

Dobbin recommends: Dream-grunge duo Friendship Commanders have been preparing the ground for LP4, Bear. Since Mass, they’ve done even more work on their production, elevating “FOUND” to new heights. Buick Audra finds so many ways to decorate the track with dynamically layered vocals, and all the grooves from the drums are instant classics. This will be the record’s penultimate track, making it especially tantalising.
Pale Sailor – shrimply the best (Single)

Dobbin recommends: Sheffield might not be the industrial hub it used to be, but you can be sure all its Carhartt emos are bopping it to locals Pale Sailor. “shrimply the best” has that coveted midwest sound with added urgency and aching nostalgia, especially when the gang vocals hit in the bridge. With their production and sound now locked down, it’s only a matter of time before they drop a long format release that becomes a UK emo classic.
Tribe of Ghosts – FOREVER FALLING UPWARDS (Single)

Dobbin recommends: CITY was an amazing achievement for Tribe of Ghosts, enough to sort them for some time, but they have seen fit to grace us with a single to keep us haunted in 2025. “FOREVER FALLING UPWARDS” is a relatively poppy track from them, with dual vocals firing much of the time to land both hooks and barbs. It’s absolutely not without teeth, as the closing deathcore-style segment demonstrates, the beefiest they’ve ever sounded.
