Shane C recommends: Anyone that grew up with Upon This Dawning, basked in the synths of Shoot the Girl First, and/or two-stepped to Motionless in White’s Creatures had been having a rough go of it for quite some time. True 2000s crabcore was a lost art for what seemed like an eternity, with little reason to suspect it would make a return in earnest. LA-based revivalists Ashes At Last enunciate every facet of what this subgenre stands for. With an innate ambition to take on the world with middle fingers to the sky, Ashes At Last offer tasteful synths, chugs, harmonized shouts, and everything in between on their latest single “Here’s The Kicker”.

Joe recommends: The duo return with what is their most gorgeous and emotive moment, a shoegaze post-rock-esque ballad on latest single “Inertia”. Crutcher delivers their soaring vocals that are outstanding as ever, backed with the Deftones-esque riffs of Hughes-Holland. Cult(ure) continue to be one of the most skilled acts in the UK.

Jack W recommends: Making its debut at the Burn It Down earlier this year, The Throwaway Scene’s latest track showcases the band at their peak. With infectious pop-punk hooks, emotive vocals, and a chorus that sticks with you long after the song ends, it’s a perfect blend of energy and emotion. The track is further elevated by a stunning vocal feature from the talented Charlie Rolfe, adding an extra layer of depth. It’s clear the band has refined their sound to perfection, and we can’t wait to see what’s next!

Jack W recommends: Emo powerhouse nothing, nowhere. returns, once again showcasing his post-hardcore roots with an anthem that channels the spirit of the early 2000s. “Cardinal in the Crossfire” evokes the nostalgia of watching MTV in 2005, skating with friends, and grinding through PlayStation 2 sessions. It’s a perfect blend of retro vibes and fresh energy. With this track and “Counterfeit“, the groundwork for an epic post-hardcore record is laid, and we’re eagerly awaiting an official announcement – hopefully coming soon!
