Dobbin recommends: Backslide are a metallic hardcore unit hailing from Georgia and have impressed us with “The Pulse”. It absolutely slams thanks to its amazing vocals and cutting riffs, but crutially it’s built on aching melodic undertones. This undercurrent converges for the final breakdown whichwill leave you feeling utterly dejected.
Reflections – Delirium – Redux

Max recommends: Tech-metal veterans Reflections’ deep-cut classic “Delirium” gets the redux treatment, re-recorded and re-vamped for their new version of 2013’s Exi(s)t. This particular track contains some of the silliest and most mind-melting riffwork in all of tech-metal, and it’s great to see such an underappreciated track get modernised for the band’s newer, much larger audience.

Joe recommends: “PUSH THROUGH” is our favourite cut from Step Below’s rudimentary EP. This is a knuckle-dragging, lurching outburst from the UK unit as they snap back into action with nasty mic-grabble likes like “one foot in the grave but you’re dead inside”.

Dobbin recommends: “Light” is some absolutely harrowing blackened post metal. The three piece curdles their dissonance into a labyrinthine sound. The sharp cut at the end will split you like a knife as you emerge from the maze. Ulcerate fans cannot miss this.
