Emily Mei – Inside (Single)

Dobbin recommends: “Inside” is engrossing ambient R&B from Emily Mei. Her vocals will shine on first listen, but on repeat you’ll lean into the track’s rich trap-and-drone-guitar soundscape. It’s far from metal, but Sleep Token fans will find all the aesthetics comfortably familiar, and the inventive instrumental at the end could be called a mini-breakdown.

Nick recommends: Graphic Nature have returned with a third sample of their upcoming July release. Replete with all of the band’s trademark ingredients, alongside an especially cathartic breakdown and vocal performance, Who Are You When No One Is Watching? is shaping up to be one of the UK’s strongest offerings in 2024.

Kath recommends: Massachusetts post-hardcore newcomers Knife Dance continue a streak of strong releases with latest single “Make Me Leave.” Frontman Tim Sullivan (also of Boundaries) wields grit and melodicism in equal measure to deliver an emotive performance on the follow-up track to the group’s first two outings in “Flaying” and “Weary.”
