Dobbin recommends: With all strains of hardcore currently in vogue, it feels right to respect the ‘original’ style of metallic hardcore that really laid the foundation for the modern scene. Practicers Armed For Apocalypse are under-appreciated masters of this craft, throwing out riffs full of old school bite and charm. “IMMORTAL” is their second single from the upcoming fourth album, and it indulges in sadistic levels of sludge, beating you down with rhythms made for only most seasoned metal-punks.

Dobbin recommends: As members of GILT have been putting time into Second Impact and i.liedtomyself, a new single comes as a beautiful surprise. “Seattle Day 2” gives us mallcore in spades, with verses and choruses that compete to be catchier than one another. Complete with a stylish and hilarious video, this GILT reactivation is highly welcome and more than reminds us why the project was beloved in the first place.

Dobbin recommends: Hot on the tails of their 2024 album, sludge-proggers Urzah are already swinging with their second punch. “Infernal Star I” is a beefy track that demonstrates how they unite grandeur with immediacy through simple, yet strong songwriting. In a master stroke, they turn the track’s rock’n’roll chorus lick into a sweeping lead line, making for a soaring instrumental outro to contrast all the heavy grit that’s been mulched before it.

Anthony recommends: Two years have passed since the release of instant classic, Die Laughing, and we’ve been impatiently waiting to see what ZOMBIESHARK!‘s next triumph would be. “RAGUEL SAYS RECLUSE ON THE HYPOTENUSE” fulfils on all fronts, granting every wish we had for new, innovative cybergrind, and then some. Combining samples, breakcore beats, and tectonic level breakdowns, this track takes everything which made his past releases so special and expands upon it, opening up multiple doors for ZOMBIESHARK! to explore. Put simply, this is a momentous achievement of a track.
