Joe recommends: Baltimore unit GRUDGE take a diversion from their hardcore punk sound on latest single “Fixate“. Channelling a more emotive side, as expansive guitar chords fill the track, lead by impassioned barks that capture the ear. Sitting alongside the rage-filled single “I Hope You Rot” ensures that their upcoming EP, Think For Yourself, will be one to listen to next week.

Joe recommends: Mistress return after two years, and once again impress on their double single “In My Tomb” and “Funeral of the Fae” to accompany it. Their weighty, funeral doom sound rings through strong once again, proving what a gem they are within the genre, and hopefully 2026 will be the year that they are seen as one of the finest.

Joe recommends: Ahead of upcoming record, Tear It On Down, Sweat have unleashed another single in the form of “Don’t Know Why I Bite“. Showcasing their energetic hardcore punk sound, that demands to be jammed along to and is packed with earworm hooks, each single continues to prove that the Tear It On Down is going to be a grand listen.

Joe recommends: After kicking the door, and then some, on debut EP Rat Poison. Without a Face are back to ensure maximal damage to whatever remains in their path on dual offering “Resurfacing” and “Needful Things“. Pushing their instruments of choice to the extreme with their beatdown/deathcore sound, both tracks pummel the senses to its will, before delivering one last pile driver with an absolutely diabolical breakdown, which might be the heaviest this year so far.
