Dobbin recommends: Exploring Birdsong have always sounded on point, but “Turntail” reaches new heights. The track’s first half is piano rock embellished by Lynsey Ward’s vocals and hazy effects. The second half cranks the bass and intensifies the drums for a fittingly blissful ending.

Dobbin recommends: Kurokuma are adopting a fresh sound for doom metal in their new material. “Crux Ansata” blends influences from the Middle East and Balkans into bass driven fuzz. Topped off with determined vocals and a striding groove, it’s another great sign for their upcoming album Of Amber And Sand in August.
