Even as far as kpop groups go, quintet LE SSERAFIM (an anagram for ‘I’m fearless’) have made incredible waves for a band which debuted less than a year ago. With only two EPs, the Korean outfit have amassed nine million monthly listeners and well over five-hundred million streams on Spotify, the majority of which come from their two main hits, “ANTIFRAGILE” and “FEARLESS“. Recently, LE SSERAFIM have trickled details about their upcoming debut studio album, UNFORGIVEN, which releases next month.
Today, they have unveiled the tracklist, which contains a sizeable thirteen tracks – though admittedly six of them are recycled from the group’s first two EPs (or ‘mini albums’ as they are commonly marketed in the kpop industry). This includes the aforementioned “ANTIFRAGILE“, which will, I’m sure, be familiar to anyone unfortunate enough to watch TikTok or Instagram reels on the daily. With LE SSERAFIM set to nearly double their song catalogue, and releasing their first taste of new music (in a sudden chunk, to boot) since January, it is an exciting time to be a fan.
Earlier this year, LE SSERAFIM carved out a unique niche with Japanese versions of their songs “FEARLESS” and “Blue Flame“, the latter which appears to be re-recorded for a third time with its inclusion on UNFORGIVEN. The new version of “FEARLESS” topped Japan’s weekly Oricon chart, making LE SSERAFIM the first foreign female act to top the chart in over five years. Though LE SSERAFIM are a Seoul-based act, each member is in fact of a different nationality, giving them a foothold in markets across the world. With an appearance schedule at KCON 2023 in Japan in May, as well as a rumoured world tour in the works for later this year, the stage is surely set for the quintet to take the world by storm with UNFORGIVEN.
