In what is turning into a busy year for synthwave, Hollywood Burns (aka Emeric Levardon) has announced his upcoming album set for release later this year and released a new single titled “Saturday Night Screamer”. The video which was filmed in Paris earlier this year, can be viewed below.
Directed by Emeric himself, he commented: “‘Saturday Night Screamer’ takes inspiration from the sequence in “Mars Attacks” where aliens fire weapons at people while communicating: “Don’t run, we are your friends.” The song tells the tale of a horrible invasion of Earth through an ironic, upbeat song.”
This will be the French artist’s sophomore album with his debut coming in 2018 with Invaders. The Age of the Saucers is written as a sequel to its predecessors with a heavier and more pessimistic edge to it. The sequel album was written during the pandemic while Emeric had time out from touring.
The Age of the Saucers will add to what is already becoming a stacked year for synthwave; with Perturbator, Hante, GosT and Dynatron all releasing new material this year. Emeric’s solo project will be looking to propel itself to the forefront of the scene after already gaining a foothold with Invaders.
The Age of the Saucers will be out November 12th via Blood Music. You can find pre-orders here, and view the album’s official artwork and tracklist below. For further news on Hollywood Burns and a review of The Age of the Saucers, keep an eye on Boolin Tunes.
