Emma Ruth Rundle Announces “EG2: Dowsing Voice”

In what is turning out to be a busy year for Emma Ruth Rundle, she has today announced an album of improvised music titled EG2: Dowsing Voice. The record, set for release next month, will feature 10 tracks and a run time of just under 41 minutes. The first track, titled “Imbolc Dawn Atop Ynys Wydryn. Ice Melts as The First Resplendent Rays of Spring Pour Over The Horizon.“, can be listened to below.

In a statement on her Instagram, Rundle explains, “An album of improvised music – with an emphasis on rediscovering the vocal – by way of intuiting unseen beings and goddess forms underground, and in the water, and in the waves and the wind, and rain, and welling up from the wells.. all in Wales – where I was in the winter Jan/Feb 2020

A limited edition art book will accompany the release, featuring 140 pages to enhance the record’s playthrough experience. Digitally, EG2: Dowsing Voice will be exclusively available on Bandcamp rather than typical streaming sites such as Spotify and Apple Music, whilst there will also be a limited vinyl pressing on the physical front.

Further explaining the record, Rundle comments, “please note that this is my weird art project. It’s different, and not for everyone. There aren’t traditional songs really… and it’s not quite the same as EG1. there’s more vocalizing- (singing but without ‘lyrics’ – throat singing – screaming – made up language). It’s still a sequel though – I believe the heart of the series lies in the improvisational nature of the music… I’ll be sharing more about the artwork here in coming weeks.”

EG2: Dowsing Voice will quickly follow on from the Portland-based artist’s Orpheus Looking Back, a small collection of B-sides from 2021’s outstanding Engine of Hell. Emma is set to perform at Roadburn Festival at the end of April, which will be the first of several live shows across 2022, including a full UK and EU tour.

EG2: Dowsing Voice is set for release on May 13th via Sargent House. You can pre-order the record here, and view the EP’s tracklist and artwork below. For a full review of EG2: Dowsing Voice and further news on Emma Ruth Rundle, keep it with Boolin Tunes.
