BLACKPINK Release “Pink Venom” and Display Album Pre-orders
After a nearly 2 year hiatus, international superstars BLACKPINK return front and center with new single “Pink Venom“, coming straight off their album Born Pink. Still trending at #1 one week later, just shy of 200 million views, it’s a wonder how long this record-breaking group will keep it going. Happy Birthday Captain Jeon Soyeon of (G)I-DLE!
Leader, main rapper, and center of (G)I-DLE Jeon Soyeon celebrates her 24th birthday on Friday, August 26th, a few days after returning to South Korea following their world tour. Returning with fellow member Miyeon, the duo are straight back to work. As per the official Instagram, Soyeon can be seen working alongside Mindset Dive. The finale for that series is to premiere on her birthday. Miyeon makes her return as co-MC to the previously mentioned music show M COUNTDOWN. As we wait for the other members to make their return, it seems like there’s no room for respite for “Two-yeon“.
Spotlight Release: IVE – After Like
Starship Entertainment’s KPop rookies IVE have returned with their 3rd single album titled After Like. The title track “After Like” cements IVE‘s fresh dominance in the genre with instrumentals that pay clear homage to Gloria Gaynor’s 70s super-hit “I Will Survive“. “After Like” has disco-inspired grooves, incredible rap sections by members Rei and Gaeul, as well as verse/chorus melodies that are sure to make a pleasant home in your head for a very long time. It might be a shock to see if IVE doesn’t sweep rookie awards and other various awards this year. B-side “My Satisfaction” is also another phenomenal track that seems to be a blend of Billie Eilish and maybe even some subtle rock/Dreamcatcher-type segments that are superb. IVE are 3 for 3 on incredible releases this year, and we look forward to seeing the route they choose to dominate in the future.
