After lingering in anticipation for the last two years since Blanket’s previous release, Modern Escapism, the quartet have delivered the lead single alongside the release date for their upcoming EP, Blue Eyes. Blanket will be releasing their upcoming record via Church Road Records, a label housing a roster of notable acts such as Heriot and Slow Crush. The EP contains five brand new tracks, including a cover of Post Malone’s tremendously popular ballad, “I Fall Apart”, and a cover with Palm Reader of Radiohead’s eerie, yet gorgeous song, “Climbing Up The Walls”.
Blanket is composed of Bobby Pook and Simon Morgan on vocals and guitar, alongside bassist Matthew Sheldon and drummer Aiden Baldwin. Together, these four have supported the likes of Cellar Darling, and even Polyphia, as well as the many festivals they’ve performed for in the past. Their productions are intense and enveloping, earning them an extensive UK audience, where the band had originally developed.
It’s been a long road since Blanket’s 2016 debut record, Our Brief Encounters, and their 2018 release, How to Let Go, both of which carved out their spot in the post-rock universe. However, nothing quite pushed them into the spotlight like 2021’s Modern Escapism, including significant features from Gost and Kadeem France of Loathe, allowing an entirely new audience to uncover the immersive experience Blanket provides. With the release of Blue Eyes, Blanket are sure to build upon the momentum and attention they’ve been able to conjure in previous years.
Blue Eyes is out September 1st, via Church Road Road Records. You can find pre-orders here, and view the albums tracklist and artwork below.
