Black Country, New Road has no time to rest on their laurels. Less than a year removed from their debut For the First Time, the London-based septet announce their sophomore release, Ants From Up There.
Striking while the iron is hot, Black Country, New Road looks to build on the success and momentum of their first album. In case you haven’t heard it, I strongly recommend checking out For the First Time, an exciting effort that shows that the band is right on the pulse. Not satisfied with impressing just the once, however, they released the single “Chaos Space Marine” today. The video for which can be viewed below.
“We threw in every idea anyone had with that song,” says vocalist The Guest, “throwing all the shit at the wall and just letting everything stick.” More immediately pop-oriented and quicker-paced than much from their previous work, “Chaos Space Marine” sounds brighter in sound. The lyrics, however, help to reveal their custom sense of desperation and disillusion.
Alongside the album, the band also announced a massive tour, spanning the UK and Continental Europe, with tickets available here. The album can be pre-ordered, in a variety of formats, here, and you can find the album artwork and tracklist at the bottom of the page.
The tracklist reveals studio versions of a few live staples, “Bread Song”, “Snow Globes”, and “Basketball Shoes”. Will they be re-imagined in the same way that tracks like “Athens, France” and “Sunglasses” were for their debut album? Keep it here at Boolin Tunes to find out when Ants From Up There drops on February 4th, 2022.
