La Dispute are an essential pillar of poetic post-hardcore, with their most recent LP No One Was Driving The Car proving once again that their narratives and instruments carry immense weight. Playing Manchester’s Club Academy on a long winter tour, the night was bolstered by the spirited energy of Midwest screamo outfit vs self. A pensive opening set was provided by local instrumental post-rockers pijn, whose expansive soundscapes set a perfectly dejected tone for the evening.
