LIVE GALLERY: Hot Mulligan & Delta Sleep at Academy, Manchester

Is it a certain age when you start going grey and so you’re set in your ways?

After releasing their fourth studio album in August 2025 – The Sound a Body Makes When It’s Still, Hot Mulligan speed ahead with their world domination tour making sure to play an unforgettable sold out spot promptly at Academy in Manchester.

The 5 piece all the way from Lansing, Michigan always promise to bring a packed show. Playing 16 tracks in Manchester, starting with newer tracks like “Moving To A Bedbug Island” the crowd were instantly receptive to the vocals from “Tades“ (Nathan Sanville – Vocals) their Midwest emo sound instantly brings the energy to the crowd with crowd surfers and mosh pits in their many. My favourite track played was definitely “How Do You Know It’s Not Armadillo Shells” during the middle of their set, the whole crowd together with their hands in the air feeling the same emotions at the same time towards a band that has been around to create art for a good chunk of time now.

Delta Sleep

In the first section of the show it was consistently new music heavy, luckily at this time the set changes up, gearing us up for some more of our favourite and Hot Mulligan’s greatest tracks with the band stating “the new stuff is done with for now”. The set including “Fly Move (The Whole Time)“, “And I Smokeand “Cream of Wheat of Feet Naw Cream (feat)“.

Hot Mulligan sets are packed full of songs about life events, angst, Dungeons & Dragons and more relevant than ever, politics. During coming back from a moment, Tades happily shares his great disdain at billionaires asking why they exist and “more importantly, why are they still alive?” this gets a great reaction and huge cheer from the crowd, carrying the high energy into more great hits “Featuring Mark Hoppus” and “Feal Like Crab“.

The band choosing to pause through the end of their set to go off-stage for a breather, coming back on and shouting out both support bands Delta Sleep and Gambling Of Dogs. Tades saying “Okay, now it’s time for sing along bullsh*t, eh BCKYRD?” Then going straight into singing their first encore song, “BCKYRD” – this song has lyrics that beautifully paint the picture of what it’s like to realize everything is such a let-down when you grow up, and you thought things would be amazing. Hot Mulligan finish their set on a high with the last track “Equip Sunglasses“, bringing out mosh pits with also crowd surfers overhead until the very last note.
