MONTH IN REVIEW: January 2022

Welcome to this year’s first installment of the Boolin Tunes monthly recap. We’ll be highlighting the album reviews we have covered and noteworthy news that has sprung up over the past couple of weeks.

ALBUM REVIEWS

In stark contrast to the year previous, 2022 has seen a flourish in new releases in the core scene. With the previously delayed Underoath album surfacing among heavy deathcore hitters such as Fit For An Autopsy, Shadow Of Intent, Worm Shepherd, and Enterprise Earth, January is starting off with a bang. This is not to overshadow strong releases within Pridelands, Modern Error, and Comeback Kid, who stand valiantly among them. You can check out the reviews for January by clicking each band below.

WHAT HAPPENED IN JANUARY?

Still in the midst of a pandemic, there are bound to be a plethora of problems about. Many bands have been seen with updated touring schedules, whether it be due to postponements, dropouts, or cancellations. You can read more about the touring updates by following the links below.

Festivals

With a seemingly busy month, January has given us two confirmed festivals. Taking place June 30th to July 4th and October 22nd, 23rd, and 29th are Tech Fest and When We Were Young, shown on those respective dates.

Displaying a lineup filled to the brim, heavy acts such as VEXED, Frontierer, ten56 and Hacktivist are brought to Tech Fest, along with many other associated groups. You can read further into the details of Tech Fest here.

Showcasing a purely nostalgic multitude of bands, When We Were Young explores a night of post-hardcore and pop punk classics in the form of My Chemical Romance, Paramore, Pierce the Veil, and Dashboard Confessional. With initial fan reception being staggering, the festival grew from a one day event to three over the course of a couple weeks. You can view the lineup below.
