Blood Command have announced their highly anticipated record Praise Armageddionism which is set set for release this summer. This will be the first album with vocalist Nikki Brumen who joined the quintet last year, and recently linked up with them in Norway. Alongside this announcement, the third single from the album “Nuns, Guns & Cowboys” was released with a nifty nightclub video.
The new track will join previously released singles “The End Is Her” and “A Villain’s Monologue” on the Norwegian group’s fourth studio album. The former of which vocalist Nikki Brumen (formerly of Pagan) made her debut on, taking the reigns from previous vocalist Silje Tombre. The self-described death pop band made their debut in 2008 with EP Five Inches of a Car Accident, two years later their debut full-length Ghostlocks saw the group begin to make a name for themselves. Since then, they have added two albums and an EP to their discography with their most recent body of work being the EP Return of the Arsonist.
In the words of Blood Command: “‘Nuns, Guns and Cowboys’ is a song about feeling empowered to believe in what you want. It’s a bit of a ‘f*ck you’ to anyone who might ridicule others for believing in something that may help them get out of bed in the morning. It should be no one else’s business nor should anyone judge someone for something they believe in.
“Because the album was originally written and recorded with our previous singer, which is now almost three years ago, it feels like the biggest relief being able to finally release it. Recording with Nikki did breathe new life into the record but we are all still so keen to get it out to the world as it’s been a very long journey to get to this point.
“Finally having Nikki in Norway (after having waited for over a year and a half since she joined the band!) has been nothing less than a dream for all of us. From the moment that she stepped foot on Bergen soil, we both knew we had made the right decision. We clicked instantly, it honestly feels like we have been best friends for years. Even the first band practice was better than any of us could have imagined and everyone in Blood Command agrees that we couldn’t find a better fit if we tried!”
Before they drop their new album, Blood Command will be heading on tour with KVELERTAK on a trio of UK dates alongside Planet Of Zeus. The tour will see them perform at London’s Islington Assembly Hall, Manchester’s Academy 2 and finally Bristol’s Marble Factory. They will head across Europe which in total will see them perform 42 dates in total across countries such as Norway, Germany, Sweden and France. They are also set to make an appearance at this year’s 2000trees which will be headlined by IDLES, Thrice and Jimmy Eat World. The festival which is hosted in Cheltenham, will be taking place between the 6th and 9th of July.
