Silent Planet release new track “Panopticon”

California metalcore quartet Silent Planet are back with a new, heavy hitting, single titled “Panopticon”. Following the release of “Trilogy” in early 2020 the band have followed a much heavier route than expected, and “Panopticon” certainly cements their newfound aggression. Check out the official video for the track below:

Silent Planet frontman Garrett Russell recently spoke of the new track:

“”Panopticon” paints a dystopian view of the future – one where technological advances have pacified the human spirit and made us apathetic in the face of an increasingly malevolent, post-singularity AI that was developed under the premise of security… ultimately becoming a tyrannical overlord,” adding:

“To communicate the story of humanity and its traditions being outmoded, we challenged ourselves to write a song with no guitar. Using only bass, electronic elements, and percussion – we developed this track over the course of the summer.”

Garrett also shared on his instagram:

“We approached this song different than usual and had a lot of fun with the creative process. Mitch even decided to play bass instead of guitar when he tracked his parts. It’s a weird one for sure.

“Fun fact: Panopticon was also the name of my lil jam band in college. My friends and I were philosophy nerds and were inspired by Foucault’s prescient writings regarding the inevitability of the surveillance state.”

Silent Planet are soon to be embarking on a US tour with Motionless in White, Light the Torch, and Dying Wish. You can find tickets here.

And though we must wait longer for Silent Planet’s highly anticipated fourth full length album, we at least have the treat of “Panopticon” to hold us over until then. “Panopticon” is available now via UNFD, and you can purchase or stream the single here.
