Metalcore’s blue chip prospect Spiritbox have shared a brand new single titled “Hurt You”. This will be the fifth and final single from their highly anticipated album Eternal Blue, which was revealed in May of this year. The track’s official video can be viewed below.
“Hurt You” was originally debuted on Spiritbox’s recently cut short tour with Limp Bizkit, which saw them play only a handful of the planned dates. The trio revealed on social media that to help with the fallout of the cancelled tour, Brent Smith of Shinedown gifted $10,000 to help mitigate financial damages, and We Came As Romans waived the invoice for the cost of their loaned equipment.
Discussing the new track guitarist Mike Stringer comments “Hurt You is a song that was written before the pandemic, in early 2020 during a snowstorm. We were stuck inside, and couldn’t go anywhere, so this song flowed out of myself, Courtney, and our producer Dan pretty quick. The subject matter of the song explores toxic co-dependency, and the feeling of knowing that something is doomed to fail, but making the choice to go down with the ship. The video, directed by Dylan Hryciuk, is horror inspired, and depicts love in four different acts. It’s the first video we’ve made where we do not make an appearance, and allow the story to be the main focus.”
For those who wish to see “Hurt You” and their other recently released singles “Circle With Me” and “Secret Garden” live, Spiritbox will be supporting Underoath alongside Every Time I Die next year. The tour will begin in Dallas, Texas on February 18th and culminate in Atlanta, Georgia on March 25th.
“Hurt You” is available now via Rise Records/Pale Chord, and can be streamed here. For further news on Spiritbox, including our upcoming review of Eternal Blue in September, keep an eye on Boolin Tunes.
