Interactive and experimental marketing can often do a lot for bands seeking novel ways of engaging their fans, and Underoath have certainly capitalised on this. For the past few days, Underoath have been teasing a snippet of a new track on voyeurist.io, a website where fans can grant access to their webcam for a preview of an unknown single. In some strangely effective take on musical Chat Roulette, the website exhibits other fans indulging in this bizarre online experience.
Now having had their fun dangling the proverbial carrot, Underoath have officially revealed their seventh studio album — Voyeurist. In addition to the announcement comes the full unveiling of a brand new single entitled “Hallelujah”; the very same single teased earlier this week. The official visualiser for the new track can be viewed below.
Underoath released what was then just a standalone single, “Damn Excuses”, earlier in 2021, which many fans will be pleased to know is indeed featuring on Voyeurist as the opening track. Prior to this, listeners have been gifted with live renditions of Lost In The Sound Of Separation, Define The Great Line and They’re Only Chasing Safety in the past couple of years.
Quite interestingly, Underoath have stated on their official Twitter account that they were initially aiming for an October release date for Voyeurist, but decided to delay the album by several months due to the mass delay to vinyl pressings that have afflicted many bands and artists as of late.
Voyeurist is due for release on January 14th 2022 via Fearless Records. The album is available for pre-order here, and you can find the official artwork and track-listing below. For more coverage on Underoath and metalcore in general, stick around on Boolin Tunes.
