After much anticipation, Diamond Construct have dropped brand new single “Switchblade OST” and revealed the details of their upcoming album, titled Angel Killer Zero. The track follows on from “Jynx“, which dropped at the end of 2023, the first new material from the Aussie unit in nearly two years. The video for the brand new single can be viewed below.
Over their near decade a band, Diamond Construct have refined their nu-metalcore sound that garnered them attention on their self-titled full length in 2019, that saw many of the genre contemporises at the time also drop noteworthy material. On following EP DCX2 and “Hit it Back“, the quartet seemingly began to hit their stride, yet it turned into a long wait for Diamond Construct to unveil what they had been working on. The aforementioned “Jynx” displays an even further unhingded sound, that will be further expanded on across Angel Killer Zero.
Subtle anime references are in among the track listing, with opener “Hashira” nodding to the series Demon Slayer and the rank held by the highest ranking corps. “Jynx” hinting towards the angel-assassin as part of the wider fanfiction around the series, with the game’s menu music being sampled towards the end of the track. With this likely scratching the surface, what other references as within Angel Killer Zero shall be revealed on its release in April.
Angel Killer Zero is out April 26th via Greyscale Records, and can be pre-ordered here. The full tracklist and artwork can be viewed below. For a review and further coverage on Diamond Construct, stick with BoolinTunes.
