Perth nu-metalcore unit Pincer+ have today announced the follow-up to Hunting God Tapes. Vol 1: Violence, titled Hunting God Tapes. Vol 2: Romance, set to release this coming November. Seeing them continue to expand their discography of brutality, and expand the boundaries of that, as is shown on new single “Closer To God“. The brief but impactful track can be listened to below.
“Thematically, ‘Romance’ goes back to the roots of it all – the source of the damage on Violence“, comments Josh Ang, who wears the many hats of guitarist, backing vocalist and in-house producer. He continues, “Sonically it’s angry. It’s angry and violent and hurt and it’s thrashed around under my skin for so many years in the making, waiting to be given a mouth to be heard. Personally, Romance is healing. Mistakes I’ve made, personified into something real and tangible as a reminder never to make them again“.
Pincer+ returned to Sumo Sound Studios in Perth to have drum and vocals recorded, while remaining production, writing and recording sitting with the aforementioned Josh Ang, who also works with with fellow Aussie unit HEAVENSGATE. The mix and mastering was in the hands of the well known George Lever, who has worked on the likes of In Fear, Thornhill and Forlorn.
Hunting God Tapes. Vol 2: Romance will also see the first feature for a Pincer+ track, from trap artist, Apex afi. Closer “Stuck in the Ceiling” sees a curveball from the quartet, and embraces a direction that many would have unforeseen. The release will also see a run of vinyl, with both Violence and Romance EPs being on the vinyl.
