Make Them Suffer have returned with a new single titled “Contraband” featuring Courtney LaPlante, premiering on Triple J today, along with an official release later in the week. You can view the music video below.
“Contraband” follows on from the group’s fourth full-length album, How to Survive a Funeral, which released just shy of a year ago. In their 11 years together as a band, this is the first time Make Them Suffer have had a featured vocalist on one of their tracks.
Courtney LaPlante, vocalist of djent trio Spiritbox (who recently announced their debut album Eternal Blue) seems to have been making the rounds in the metalcore world as of late, featuring on not only this, but further lending her voice to releases from DARKO US, The Acacia Strain and Kingdom of Giants, among others over the past year. Speaking on Triple J radio, where the song premiered, Sean Harris and Booka Nile had this to say about working with LaPlante:
“We decided to reach out to Courtney and thought it would be the perfect opportunity, and someone we wanted to work with as our first feature.”
“She was so cool to work with because I was able to at one time, I literally just pulled over cause an idea came to me. And parked up somewhere and recorded a video of myself singing this part and sent it to her. She was just like “I just love that you sent me that”, it was really cool and we’re stoked with it.”
“Contraband” will officially release on Friday, 25th June via Rise Records. You can pre-save the track here and view the single artwork below. For further new on both Make Them Suffer and Spiritbox, keep your eyes on Boolin Tunes.
