Crushing Connecticut quintet Currents have today unveiled their upcoming third full-length album, entitled The Death We Seek, which is due to be released on May 5th. This special announcement is compounded by the release of “Remember Me”, the album’s penultimate track and third single, following “The Death We Seek” and “Vengeance” which dropped in late 2022.
The Death We Seek’s release in May is remarkably consistent with the timing of Currents’ prior records: their debut album The Place I Feel Safest released in June 2017 and The Way It Ends followed in June 2020, leaving almost an exact three year gap between records. That level of consistency is truly admirable.
On the new single “Remember Me”, Currents offer up sombre, harrowing soundscapes of glassy, ambient guitars, combined with a greater focus on clean vocal verses by frontman Brian Wille. Those signature tech-centric riffs that shot Currents to popularity with songs such as “Better Days” and “Apnea” can be found in their utmost glory across “Remember Me”, whilst anthemic elements akin to those from “Monsters” and “Feel The Same” also shine through here.
The Death We Seek will release on May 5th via Sharptone Records, and you can pre-order it here. The album’s artwork can be viewed below, in addition to the tracklist. For our upcoming review of The Death We Seek plus more Currents content, stick with Boolin Tunes.
