Ohio metalcore quartet The Plot In You have announced their highly anticipated fifth studio album, titled Swan Song, and shared the first taste of the album with a heavy new single titled “Face Me“. You can view the track’s official music video below.
The announcement comes just shy of three-and-a-half years since the group’s last effort, DISPOSE, shocked the metal world at large with its more experimental and melodic sensibilities. Further, the band shared an acoustic b-side from DISPOSE mid-last year with “Repay” to tide fans over.
Sharing some insight into the new song, vocalist and songwriter Landon Tewers had this to say: “It explores the intricacies of a relationship where one person is severely mentally distraught. The damage is so deep but there’s an unspeakable element that keeps them laced together. It’s about wanting to pull away just as strongly as they want it to be perfect.“
Speaking on the album as a whole, Tewers continued: “The album is about the end of things, the end of friendships, the end of relationships, and the end of people’s lives,” Tewers explains. “There’s not a whole lot of hope. On the other side of it, my life is in a way more positive place now. I said, ‘Alright, this is all of the bullshit I can conjure up in my life. Goodbye.’ It was therapeutic to dispense all of these painful things from the past and wash out the negativity.”
Swan Song will release on September 17th via Fearless Records. Pre-orders can be found here, and you can view the album’s official artwork and tracklist below. For further news on The Plot In You and our full review of Swan Song in September, keep an eye on Boolin Tunes.
